Before & After: Vintage End Tables

Last week I showed you the great end tables I found while thrifting with the hubby.
In case you forgot, here's what they looked like:

So much potential, right?

Well after letting them sit a few days in the garage, I finally started the sanding, priming, and painting process.
You can see one of the tables bottom had a darker stain so it took quite a bit of sanding to get these tables down to the raw wood. I decided I wanted to keep the bottom wood and paint the rest a glossy white.
Once that was all finished, I cleaned up the brass pulls a bit and now I have a beautiful pair of matching end tables.

I absolutely LOVE the way they turned out!

This weekend I can finally move them into the house. I just don't know where yet.
Possibly night stands for the guest room or maybe in the living room?

This weekend I will be watching the hubby race once again and this time I'll make sure to bring my camera.
Anyone else have some fun weekend plans?

Happy Friday!

What Are The Odds of That?

I was browsing One Kings Lane and came across this picture:

It's a picture from one of the vintage collections that OKL sells.
The only reason it strikes me as odd is because I found the exact same lamp at a thrift store in San Diego this past March. I decided to snap a picture of it because I found it interesting. Not to mention I loved the marble base.

I had a priceless antique right in front of me and I didn't buy it?!

Ughh.

High Gloss: Sara Tuttle

I was recently browsing through High Gloss's April/May issue and I fell in love with Sara Tuttle's apartment.
It's great that she isn't afraid to throw color around and yet, she keeps the room feeling refreshed and feminine.

Love the pops of gold everywhere!

Great mixture of old & new.

Ahh, so inspired to try new things in my own home now!

Legit Excuse to Buy a Rug

What happens when you come home from the grocery store
to find kitty "mess" all over your white loop rug?

You chuck the rug on the deck and dedicate some time to rug shopping, that's what.
Let's take a last look at my beloved living room rug (in its before kitty-poo days) before I mentally detach myself from it.

And here are a few hopefuls to replace it:

I'm thinking neutral so I can bring in (and out) color as I please with pillows and accessories.
But maybe I should stay away from white in case of any more kitty accidents.

Weekend Update

Sorry for being MIA lately.
It feels like once spring hit, I had a million different things to do and blogging wasn't one of them.
I promise I'll keep up a little more. On another short subject, the hubby had his first motocross race of the season this weekend so I was able to play motocross wife for the last couple of days.
I forgot the camera (darn) so here's a few pictures from last year so you get the idea of what I was watching all weekend.

Let the work week begin!

I'm Seeing Double

I'm seeing double. Can you guess what in each picture?

If you guessed ottomans, then you are correct!

What do you guys think of the double ottomans? I personally love the idea of using them for extra seating with out taking up so much space. And you can easily place them under a sofa table or against a wall when they're no longer needed. Now I just need to find a set of my own....

Happy Monday!

Recovered Treasure

Last week, I mentioned I thought I had missed my chance at bringing these solid wood side tables home.
Well when I went back to look again, there they were shoved in a corner.

I had Nate with me so picture us scouring the store for these tables like a pirate looking for treasure.

And it never fails when I find something I love, I jump up and down and make a high pitch squealing noise in the words of "Nate, look what I found!!" And yes, I do believe I embarrass my husband sometimes.

I looked them both over and they definitely needed some love but boy, were they sturdy.
If I would take a guess, I would say these tables were made in the 50's or maybe even the 60's?
In fact, one of them had a record player inside.

And the older generation thinks Ipods are confusing?

After pictures coming soon!
